Performing Arts

As part of the regular curriculum in First Steps to Year 2, each class has music two times per week. The music program is an active movement and music class focusing on the following elements of music: dynamics, tempo, duration, pitch, texture, tone colour, form and style.

In addition to regular music classes, Year 1  students have the opportunity to join the Beginning Strings program in which they can learn to play the violin or guitar. These string classes take place once weekly during lunch/recess time at no extra charge. After one year of class instruction, string students can continue in Year 2 in the Intermediate Strings, where they are able to play in a group and develop their ensemble playing skills.

Students who are interested can take private lessons in piano, guitar, violin or woodwind and percussion instruments after school. Private lessons are made by arrangement between the private teacher and the student’s parents, or through the school's Royal Britannia Academy RBA After School Activity programme.
